A curated exhibition of historic sneakers is now on display and “out-of-the-box” at London’s Design Museum. The exhibition, Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street showcases some of the foremost athletic footwear that are not only fashionable but have been key test beds for innovative products design and new material technologies. The sneakers on exhibit include iconic sneakers from Nike, Converse, Adidas and Reebok. The relatively recent surging interest in collectable sneaker has led to a “$6 billion dollar resale market” according to dezeen.com. Along with the explosion in popularity of sneaker collecting also comes the threat of counterfeit imitations. As part of this multi-billion dollar ecosystem; authenticators like Legitmark assist collectors and resellers in determining the real from the fake.

Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street will be on exhibit until October 24, 2021. The London Design Museum suggest advance online booking because of the popularity of this show.
